Over the past decade there has been a marked increase in the number of staffing agencies, working to place employees for a cut of the compensation, sometimes in excess of 100% of the pay rate to the employee. These Agencies are providing very little benefit to our society, acting as middlemen, while the companies hiring these employees do not pay benefits and no long term commitment to employee is in place. There is a legitimate need for temporary workers in some industries, and agencies play a crucial role here, the explosion in the sheer numbers of temporary hires as well as the dramatic rise in the number of staffing agencies indicates not only abuse of the system, but a shift to very insecure workforces. This risks to the long term health of the labor force, continued shift of wealth.
