We can't stop an attacker who resolves to begin an attack. Incidents like the one in Newtown, CT happen because the attacker perceives no opposition, no threat, no resistance. They just want to do damage. They find a way. It's never excusable-especially when it is our youngest who are targeted.
At 6 and 7, children are perfectly precious; thoughtful, creative, loving, sweet and humorous. It is the first time in their lives that parents get a break from some of the challenging years of parenting and reap the reward of a friend, side-kick, interest-sharer and more.
The children in this attack couldn't be saved. There was no one to save them until the attacker saved them from himself, after police ARRIVED.
If an officer were already inside, the damage could have been minimized.
