Now that Donald Trump is the presumptive presidential nominee, there is a statistically real chance that he could be elected president. Trump has proven himself uniquely unqualified for this office. If elected, he would become only the 20th person to have control over a superpower’s nuclear arsenal, and thus the fate of the human race. There would be no significant legal barriers to his authorizing a nuclear attack at any time.
We hereby petition President Obama to request bipartisan legislation to amend the National Command Authority—in regards to the nuclear chain of command—to require a majority of the presidential cabinet to authorize a nuclear launch.
