Place a national moratorium on horizontal hydraulic fracturing (fracking) until claims of resultant degradation of the environment and human health are resolved by modifying the process or are disproven by an unbiased and knowledgeable entity.
Examples of problems in fracked areas include contaminated groundwater, sudden health problems, and vast fish-kills. The industry mostly denies any connection. They are moving ahead with great speed before the EPA can complete its study. By then, it will be too late.
MD and NY have banned fracking, but state leaders elsewhere, friendly with the industry, are promoting ruinous gas drilling as an economic blessing. Our best hope is for the federal government to immediately halt the destruction of our life-giving lands throughout the entire US.
