The practice of hydraulic fracking in use by the natural gas industry has shown clear health and environmental risks that can no longer be ignored. People all across the country have contaminated wells, water, and land, while the companies responsible tell them that nothing is wrong. These companies are allowed to discharge highly toxic fracking fluid which includes close to 600 toxic chemicals, with NO FEDERAL OVERSIGHT. This is due to the "Halliburton Loophole," a legislation passed in 2005 that allows these companies to bypass the clean air act, the clean water act, and numerous other environmental regulations. Something must be done about this.
