Having a safety camera on the lapel of every law enforcment officer in the nation could increase safety and decrease misconduct and false accusations.
According to the Catos Institute National Police Misconduct Reporting Project, in the year 2010 alone there was 4,861 reports of police misconduct in the nation. Of these reports, 247 were fatalities. Included with these numbers is a hefty fee of $346,512,800 in civil judgments and settlements. These cameras could help bring the abusive officers to justice.
The officers would also have the ability to make surveyed arrests without the fear of false accusation and have standing evidence if it was needed. Officers could then prove the arrests were made with proper reasoning and without misconduct.
