When ticket reselling sites buy tickets for artistic events, the tickets are resold with a higher cost than originally intended. As businesses such as StubHub have large amounts of economic spending power used specifically for buying multitudes of tickets, tickets are often sold out before regular consumers are able to purchase them. Individual consumers may not be able to purchase the tickets after the premium is applied; middle- and lower-class Americans are hurt the most, turning the ability to view art into a privilege for the rich.
We ask for the executive branch to draft legislation to be introduced to Congress that limits the purchasing power of ticket re-sellers so that the average American is more likely to be able to afford tickets and participate in artistic events.
