Rosa Louise McCauley Parks should be the first woman on a ten dollar bill. Ms. Parks is already considered the First Lady of Civil Rights and the Mother of the Freedom Movement by the United States Congress due to her tireless work and dignity in fighting for the cause of freedom in America.
Her act of defiance in refusing to give up her seat on a bus in Alabama lighted the flame and gave impetus to a movement that culminated in the country rejecting the legacy of discrimination kept alive by laws denying equality to American citizens based on their race.
Her likeness on the ten dollar bill will not only honor her, but it will serve as a reminder of her work upholding the values that we share and bind us as a people.
