Place a significant export tariff on all exported energy products.

Created by M.O. on June 07, 2013

The U.S. is currently experiencing an energy production boom. Those in the energy industry are hoping to export much of this energy in order to increase their own profits. This will increase energy costs to the American consumer and hasten the depletion our domestic supply of this vital resource.

Therefore, place a significant export tariff on all exported energy. The tariff should be at least 30%. Earmark the funds generated by this tariff to promote renewable energy and its associated infrastructure.

We cannot afford to deplete the U.S. of this strategic resource without having alternatives in place. If we are going to accept the environmental harm of extracting unconventional energy, then at we should vigorously move the U.S. in the direction of renewable and sustainable energies.
