According to the Department of Energy (DOE) we could power THE ENTIRE UNITED STATES (roughly 800 gigawatts of power) with a 100 square mile area of solar panels in Nevada. Don't want all those solar panels in one state? No problem! If each state devotes a 17 x 17 mile area of solar panels they would still contribute to 90% of the electrical consumption in the U.S. That's not even mentioning the other renewable and alternative energy sources we have at our disposal.
