Tobacco and alcohol use are potentially fatal and should no longer be exceptions in the War on Drugs. Both tobacco and alcohol are more addictive and more dangerous than numerous drugs on the list of Controlled Substances and should no longer be tolerated. The former prohibition of alcohol was an evident failure, but the abundance of information of the effects of both alcohol and tobacco today would almost certainly produce a different result in public reaction. While there would most likely arise a black market for both of these drugs in response to their prohibition, there exists already a black market for numerous other drugs and modern law enforcement is quite proficient in regulating them. The need for public healthcare would also see a dramatic decrease, improving the economy.
