Plastic Water Bottle Tax

I petition the Federal government to apply a 1.00 tax to the sale of all plastic filled water bottles. The United States throws away 30 billion plastic water bottles every year, roughly 60 % of worlds total. It takes 3 times the amount of water to manufacture the bottles than it does to fill them. We use 17 million barrels of oil to manufacture water bottles each year. The tax revenue alone could could significantly reduce the federal governments operating budget.
