It has been a year since Princeton University released the latest study confirming that our democracy has been overthrown, and replaced by an oligarchy. This was reported by the BBC, MSNBC, The New Yorker, among other outlets. Yet this stunning fact has failed to elicit a peep from the leaders of both parties.
'We have been overthrown from within' should be a subject of some urgency, a front-and-center issue in the upcoming election.
In June, congress will take up the issue of Citizen's United, the Supreme Court ruling allowing corporations to spend unlimited money buying elections. Now would be a perfect time to speak to the American people. We owe it to every soldier who has ever served to speak the truth about what has become of the country they fought to establish and defend.
