Two issues played equally horrifying roles in the CN tragedy.
Untreated, undiagnosed mental illness in young adults must be addressed. Current laws severely limit families/friends and mental health professionals. Too often the mental illness/disorders are recognized by authorities too late - after the fact. The now legal right to refuse treatment must be re-addressed. Mental illness is a societal problem with far reaching ramifications.
Individuals committing these horrific acts do so in part because of their perceived "going down in glory." They know their names will be broadcast everywhere. Each new incident seems to try and "out-do" the previous ones. Our gov't and we as concerned citizens need to ask all Media not to name them. Let them remain nameless, in shame. Forever.
