please block the Keystone XL pipeline.

While it's commonly accepted that tar sands exploitation will continue in Alberta, destroying vast swaths of pristine wilderness, the United States does not have to allow the toxic and corrosive product to cross the very heartland and agricultural center of our own nation.

None of this oil will show any permanent, long-term benefit to the United States; jobs from its construction are temporary, and jobs for its continued maintenance are not worth the cost of our environmental security. None of this oil will stay here, it will be funneled to other nations abroad. While our relationship with Canada is important and should be deeply respected, it should never come at the cost of the planet we share.

Allow the Canadians to assume the environmental risks. Protect the US. Thank you.
