please consider Harriet Tubman as the new face of the $10 bill.

Created by G.K. on June 19, 2015

This petition is for the the addition of famed slavery abolitionist Harriet Tubman to the 10 dollar bill. I feel her addition would bring about a historical milestone by becoming the first African American AND woman on U.S. currency. Therefore please consider the following:

In a time when African Americans were disgracefully owned, where even white women of status couldn't vote let alone a freed slave, Harriet Tubman gave the proverbial middle finger to all of it. She risked her life, not only for her family but strangers as well, each time she went back to the same South where she was born a slave. Her tenacity, drive and selflessness are qualities we should all strive to exemplify, qualities we want our country to represent. From this I hope you agree to add her to the 10 dollar bill.
