The Universities of Massachussets and Mississippi want to patent the so-called invention of using Kratom for use in drug addiction. This is essentially a patent on kratom, kind of like patent #6630507, on the use of Cannabinoids for various things. Both THC and Mitragynine are now (or will be very soon) Schedule 1 drugs, which means that they have no accepted medical value. The medical value of both of these compounds are very well documented, and it's very hard to understand how the government can patent something for its medical use and then say it has no medical use. This needs to stop. As head of the executive branch of government, we the people urge you to do everything in your power to keep this patent from being granted.
