Please end the use of the term "Domestic Violence".

Created by M.C. on September 18, 2015

How many times do we have to hear about horrific crimes against women, lovers and spouses reduced to the inexplicable term of Domestic Violence? Is it because if you date, sleep with or marry someone then beating them within an inch of their lives is different than beating someone who you are not romantically involved? Police often do not want to get involved in a "Domestic Situation" and that is the problem; By playing it off as a separate, more acceptable version of boorish behavior, it has caused people to ignore it or take it more lightly than hearing that someone beat a complete stranger into unconsciousness. I suggest that all policy and legal references to Domestic Violence, Domestic Abuse, etc. be removed and replaced with more realistic terms like "Beating of A Defenseless Woman".
