Please get the Department of Justice to investigate the conditions of Detroit Public Schools!

I urge the president of the United States to get the Justice Department to investigate the conditions of the Detroit Public Schools. There are documented health code violations, Michigan State fire code violations, OSHA violations, and numerous violations of federal civil rights laws. The lack of safe environment for teachers and students is deplorable. The buildings are crumbling, there is toxic mold rampant through the buildings, there are major problems with vermin, and there is insufficient funds allocated to the repair of all facilities in that district. The teachers are striking to gain visibility to their plight. These individuals are risking their livelihoods by striking, but are risking their lives just by doing their jobs in unsafe conditions.
