President Barack Obama has issued 562 commutations during his presidency. This is more than any other President. While most of the people that the President pardoned were nonviolent drug offenders, we feel that he has forgotten a man very deserving of a commutation.
William Leonard Pickard is a Harvard graduate and a nonviolent drug offender. Although not marijuana, the drug he was caught with, LSD, is considered a soft drug by the medical journal "The Lancet". Mr. Pickard's being sentenced to 2 life sentences for conspiring to manufacture, distribute and dispense ten grams or more of LSD is clearly draconian.
The President should take the high road and give clemency to a 70 year old nonviolent drug offender for an offense committed almost 30 years ago.
