Please help the Fort Polk horses that the Army wants to get rid of. They have been there for decades.

The Fort Polk horses are slowly being sold off by the Army. Horse traders and kill buyers can purchase these horses and send them to Mexico for slaughter. There is no supervision of this process. These horses deserve better than this. We were told that they were descendants of cavalry horses that had been injured or were lame during training exercises during World War II in 1941, and instead of treating the horses, they turned them loose. The horses at Fort Polk are their descendants. They have been there for decades and never caused an issue but now the Army says they do. This is not right! The horses deserve to be protected and not subject to inhumane treatment. They are part of our Heritage. There is no way to know what happens to them once they are sold.
