Nadia Akhtar was sponsored in 2002 for Green Card by her father when she was 19. Due to a delay by US Immigration; her visa did not become available and she was put on a different category when she turned 21. Nadia was living in apartment by herself as no one was there to support her and started to have miserable life. Living alone for a girl in Pakistan is very difficult and she was continuously terrified by neighbors. She waited until December 2012 for her visa to become available and then got married. A few months after marriage; she was divorced and left alone with a new born baby. She has been continuously threatened by her ex-husband that they will take the baby away. She was beaten up numerous times and left with no help.Since she has married, her visa application has been voided.
