In order to care for the healthcare needs of the public, future nurses must be well educated. An increase in available nursing faculty is needed to offset the nursing shortage and to prepare competent practitioners to provide healthcare to the American public. We must strive to implement strategies to address the shortage of available nursing faculty. To solve this growing problem we need loan forgiveness programs for nurses seeking higher education degrees in agreement for working in a faculty role. It is also necessary that the Nurse Reinvestment Act of 2002 be refunded and that nursing faculty salaries are increased!
