Please immediately reinstate New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton, the target of the NFL's first "Coach d'état"

Created by F.B. on November 27, 2012

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton was suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for the entire 2012 season (without pay) as part of the "bounty" program implemented by the team's former defensive coordinator. The NFL has also subsequently voided the contract between the Saints and Mr. Payton. Assuming, arguendo, that the events occurred as alleged, the punishment meted out by Mr. Goodell is so far beyond the pale that is requires its own moniker: a "Coach d'état." I will not comment on the rampant speculation among the WhoDatNation (fans of the Saints) that the NFL's actions are part of an attempt to prevent the Saints from becoming the first team to play in a Super Bowl on their home turf. As the Fan-in-Chief, I only urge you to let justice roll down like a coffin-corner punt!
