We the people ask the federal government to Change an existing Administration policy:

Please increase base-pay of disabled veterans.

Created by D.S. on September 01, 2016

Once the VA awards a disability, the veteran receives that percentage of his/her last rank held, but it doesn't increase when the rate of pay for active duty members increases. For example, awarded 40% disability in 1996, a veteran receives 40% of the pay for E-4 in 1996, but it stays at that rate. For such a person, the COLA set by President Clinton would award an average annual increase of $11, however, a COLA is not awarded every year. I would like to see a disabled veteran get his/her percentage of the current pay for E-4. Disabled veterans are an increasing population, and every dollar we are awarded gets put into the economy immediately. Caring for veterans is good for America.
