Mr. Alan Turing, as a British scientist, is responsible for cracking The Enigma codes used by Nazi-German U-boats. These U-boats sank almost 3,000 Allied ships in The Atlantic. Breaking these codes gave the upper hand to The Allied Forces. He is also credited with inventing the modern computer and the concept of AI, yes inventing! As well as achieving many, many other scientific breakthroughs during the course of his career. Sadly Mr. Turing died before any official recognition of his work could be given. He committed suicide after being subject to Hormonal Castration at the hands of his own Government for being a Homosexual, and not hiding it! This man is not only a WWII hero but also an accidental activist for equal human dignity. A dignity that has been denied him for far to long.
