Recently, I decided to live the American dream and own my own home. As a new comer to the housing market, I quickly found that 1 in 5 homes in the US markets are owned as investment properties. I can also assure you that a good number of those homes are owned by non-US citizens and rented out to US residents.
When attempting to purchase a home, offers are overlooked in lieu of these investors, (US or otherwise) who have substantial capitol or can offer cash. These homes are quickly either flipped at a profit with little to no improvements made, (which is driving up home prices), or rented out.
Please consider limiting the percentage of investor owned homes, the number of those foreigner owned or at least how long they may hold these homes. Else, we are soon to become a nation of renters
