The adoption tax credit was made permanent, which is nice; however, it was also made nonrefundable. For MOST families, the credit provides absolutely NO benefit, and it's sad that legislatures have patted themselves on the back by hanging an unattainable carrot in front of those who need it most.
I didn't adopt for the money and if I have to work three jobs to support my children, I'll do just that. But it's frustrating to know that a resource is there that can have a HUGE impact in my family's sustainability, with no possible way to access it. I adopted a niece and nephew from foster - not because I was rich, but because I couldn't stomach them living with strangers. Many fall into this category, and it's not likely that we'll incur tax liability this credit would help. Please help
