My son, Joshua Burkholder, has a serious liver disorder called Congenital Hepatic Fibrosis. At the age of 14, they did a Speenal/Renal shunt and for 10 years he did very well. On March 26, 2012 Joshua walked out of the house in the middle of the night not knowing who or where he was. It took us 4 hours to find him. He was admitted to the hospital and now has been diagnosed with Hepatic Encepholopathy. . He was put on a Drug lactulose which worked for 6 months but by itself doesnot work anymore. The drug Rifaximin has been perscribed for him but we cannot get it due to the fact that it cost $1,517.99 a month and the Insurance Company, CareSource, has denied his claim because of the cost of the med. If his toxin level keep building my son will go into a coma and Die. This is not acceptable.
