I am deeply disturbed by the Obama administration's consideration of taking executive measures to help address gun control. While gun control is an important issue and action clearly needs to be taken to reduce the number of guns in this country, the President should allow our existing democratic procedures to work and not take executive action. While it may seem expedient to use Executive orders or actions to address this important issue, it is the wrong path to take, and will damage the Administration's image, support the Right's position that our president is despotic, and undermine our democracy. Additionally, the reactionary use of executive orders to address gun control will further divide and inflame Americans. Please let Congress and state legislatures do their jobs.
