Lawyers are not regulated like other professions. This causes unfair treatment to the underprivileged. Lawyers often ignore Bar Association regulations without penalty. They have been known to refuse to state their retainer amount when requested, act as double agents between 2 parties without a contract ,or knowledge of the other parties, behave beligerently , and so much more that adds upto failure to represent. A set of national regulations strictly enforced by a group of non lawyers is desperately needed to help all Americans recieve better counsel. Currently lawyers are allowed to regulate themselves which is ridiculous.
