In the strongest possible terms, we urge President Obama to reject a permit for the Keystone XL pipeline.
The pipeline would transport an extremely 'dirty' form of fuel, called tar sands, from Alberta, Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. In doing so, it would encourage further devastation of the boreal forests of Canada, threaten the aquifers of the Northern Great Plains and finally, by the refining and burning of the tar sands, greatly increase the release of greenhouse gasses & other contaminants into the atmosphere.
As the President stated clearly in his inaugural address, we must confront the challenge of 'climate change' for the sake of our children, and future generations.
