This is a petition to remove love and marriage from tax code and law.
If we merely create civil unions that any 2 people can choose to form, we take gender and marriage out of the equation completely.
This prevents the government from taking a stance on the controversial issue, and makes marriage a personal and religious practice only.
Those who choose to marry don't necessarily have to decide to form a civil union, and two people don't have to necessarily be married to do the same.
This would be a huge movement for civil rights and gender equality. You could call it #TheUnitedStatement
