PLEASE require companies that use XYLITOL in their products to clearly indicate that it is toxic to dogs.

My daughter's dog climbed on a dresser to access a package of Trident gum (about 16 pieces). When she discovered the empty packaging on the floor, she immediately called her vet. Within a half hour, their beloved family pet was in a veterinary hospital fighting for his life. Although the word XYLITOL appeared in the list of ingredients, the print was tiny, and there was NO indication that this chemical is toxic to dogs. I called the manufacturer's toll-free number to report the incident, and a representative said sympathetic things in a bored tone until I inquired about assistance with the medical bills. Her response: "We're not responsible for what YOU feed your dog." Are they responsible for warning consumers of their product's toxicity to animals? Please help me make it happen!
