We respectfully petition the government of the United States to return the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to the State of Wisconsin from which it was forcibly removed in order for the State of Michigan to acquire the population needed for statehood. As the State of Michigan now has the population required for statehood without the use of the Upper Peninsula, it is past time to return it to the State of Wisconsin to which is is physically connected.
