As a Disabled Veteran, and a member of the VA Health Care System, I have noticed a disturbing trend of Veterans receiving our medications late due to the VA not taking into account weekends or Holidays. For instance if your Medication was due to arrive on the 24th of November (A Saturday) it would arrive 4-10 days late due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. Instead of being sent out early, due to the Holiday, the computer doesn't set the medication to be filled until its normal time. So instead of arriving on the 24th you wont receive it till the 29th or 30th instead, 5-6 days late. Some medications are time sensitive and I have personally met Veterans who have had serious side affects, such as Heart Attacks & Strokes, due to their medications arriving late.
