Head Start programs are in jeopardy of major program deductions or in worst case scenario closing due to sequester cuts. A reduction of services or discontinuation of services would be devastating to the countless of families that benefit from the vast opportunities Head Start provides. As part of the Head Start program, families are able to have their infant, toddler or preschooler receive high quality early childhood education that focuses completely on the individual child's developmental needs. Parents are consulted with, and in some cases are coached in, how to engage with their child in activities that encourage a healthy development. Family advocates are also available to provide parents and their children with crisis intervention and access to community services.
