Our current national debt is at $17.5 trillion, and it's increasing at a rate of $2.28 BILLION a day. The total amount of money that's in circulation within the US is $1.28 trillion. This means that if we scrapped all the money in the country, it wouldn't be enough to pay off our debt. For those of you who don't know, the definition of deficit spending is spending the money that we DON'T have. If we keep on raising debt ceiling, continue with deficit spending, and spending more than we need to on defense, we will hit rock bottom in a few decades. Maybe even in a few years. We could very well reach a Second Great Depression if this keeps up.
