Abdul Quader Mollah is an opposition leader who faces the gallows without recourse to due process or the rule of law. Justice denied.
He has been accused of war crimes committed during that country’s war of independence.
He has denied these accusations vigorously, and denied the right to a proper legal defense.
The Bangladeshi authorities now aim to execute Abdul Quader Mollah, denying him his right to appeal, and refusing to follow jail court procedures which allows for a further 21 days of delay after the review verdict.
He was originally sentenced to life imprisonment by the trial court. Following which, the government rail an amendment to ensure he was handed a death sentence.
It is now time for the international community to raise its voice and stop this miscarriage of justice.
