The Ukrainian people gave up their nuclear arsenal, the third largest in the world at the time, with the agreement that their borders would be respected by the UK, US and Russia. Russia has completely disregarded this treaty through its annexation of Crimea. If Ukraine still had its nuclear arsenal today, Russia would not even dared to think of violating Ukraine's sovereignty. What kind of message does this send to the rest of the world? Disarm you nuclear arsenal and leave your self open for invasion? The USA has a responsibility as a superpower to lead the way in ensuring that the Ukraine can at least defend itself when the Western powers are unwilling to help. The USA should send at a minimum economic aid, small arms, medical supplies, and up to date military equipment to Ukraine.
