pledge not to agree to any deal that reduces COLA adjustments to Social Security benefits.

Created by M.K. on December 31, 2012

The President must make a public pledge to preserve the Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA) formula used to set Social Security benefits. With everything costing more, senior citizens who rely on Social Security incomes are are particularly vulnerable to increases in the cost of living. Social Security does not contribute one penny to the Federal deficit, and so must not be used as a bargaining chip in the Fiscal Cliff negotiations.
