For the Plymouth Rock Mission, name the asteroid Plymouth Rock, the spacecraft the Mayflower, the crew "Pilgrimnauts".

Created by J.H. on March 19, 2013

In the mid-2020s, President Obama has set plans for the "Plymouth Rock Mission" to an asteroid. Out the trillions of asteroids there are, this one asteroid will have a special place in our culture, and should be known as Plymouth Rock and be considered an historical monument that orbits the Sun!
We call the spacecraft going to the asteroid Plymouth Rock the "Mayflower" and the crew Pilgrimnauts (instead of Astronauts), and mount a plaque made from the Plymouth Rock in New England with the year we arrive and a description of the cultural symbolism of the mission. And when the plaque made from Plymouth Rock is mounted on the asteroid Plymouth Rock, it will have the same cutlural symbolism that a symbol that was part of the founding of America is now tkaing us out into deep space!
