Police Officers are abusing their power and misusing their force on a majority of African Americans due to racial profiling and stereotypes. Many lives of innocent men, women, and children, that are unarmed, are being taken every year by police officers. This year alone we have had over 100 deaths in the black community and half of these killings are over traffic violations. Officers feel as if their first defense to lessen a threat is to grab their gun and shoot even when dealing with an unarmed individual. These officers have been trained to use other less deadly methods that will not cause major harm, but will still be able to cease the actions of an individual. These officers need to be held accountable for their actions of taking an innocent life and abusing their methods of force.
