It is sad to say that we are reaching a point in time where reports of police brutality is at an all time high. Using pepper spray on children, firing tazer guns at the elderly, even shooting a distraught teenager after finally getting him to calm down. Even if these believe they were in the right, they need to be held accountable for their actions - how can the people be safe if they're afraid of their enforcers?
With this petition, I ask that steps for monitoring every officer while on duty be taken or increased - whether it is requiring them to wear a camera on their person or audio recording devices - and that everyone in a case where excessive use of force has been used (even allegedly) go through retraining to discourage use of force unless absolutely necessary.
