Citizens who were offenders or ex-offenders of criminal activity in the United States of America have continued to serve a sentence well past their end of sentence date and involvement with the criminal justice system. After paying their debt to society they continue to pay a price.
Offenders are mal-equipped with the proper tools necessary to reintegrate into society while incarcerated. While various programs are offered to offenders in prison, they have waiting lists and most inmates never have the opportunity to engage in them. While these men and women are convicted persons, in order for them to rehabilitate and become productive members of society there should be some programs offered to them before they are sent out into the world to figure things out for themselves.
