In light of the recent attack on unarmed firefighters in upstate New York, we believe it is necessary to post armed guards at all future fires. These guards are necessary to ensure the safety of all of our first responders. Armed guards would help prevent mentally disturbed people from using assault weapons to killed our firefighters because they could shoot the "bad guy with the gun," preventing more deaths by guns.
If this is not possible, we could train all firefighters in the use of military style weapons which they would be required to keep with them at all times, including while responding to fires and rescuing cats from trees.
