Post members of the 3rd US Infantry Regiment at the nation's memorials to enforce an air of respect and reverence.

The sacred commemorative sites for fallen soldiers and civil rights leaders alike in Washington, D.C. are being disrespected and profaned daily by visitors who are loud, irreverent, and disruptive to others around them. Without proper preparation and instruction, young visitors to the Lincoln, Vietnam, Korean, and WWII memorials simply fail to exhibit due respect to what the memorials stand for--the memories of all who have fought and died to make this country great. I propose that we post members of the Old Guard, who protect the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, to guard these memorials. I also propose that we install signs explaining the symbolism of each monument, as well as encouraging quiet and respect, in addition to the park rangers already employed.
