Army Capt Khan died in a suicide car bombing at the main gates of his base in Iraq. A suspicious vehicle approached the gate. Kahn shouted, "hit the dirt" to soldiers and civilians. Khan walked 10 steps hand extended to stop the vehicle. His father repeated eyewitness accounts of the event on TV, 29 July 2016.
"He saved hundreds of American Soldiers that were on the other side of the wall and hundreds of Muslims. Approximately, we are told, the number of the people that were outside was about 300 local Muslims that were about to enter the gate."
2 civilians died, 10 soldiers and 6 civilians were wounded. Capt Khan was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. We ask you award Capt Khan the Medal of Honor for individual gallantry at the risk of life above and beyond the call of duty.
