Elizabeth Laird, the Fort Hood "Hug Lady" made it her mission to hug every Soldier leaving and returning from deployment from Fort Hood for over a decade. Over the years she has hugged over 500,000 Soldier. She was there rain or shine, day or night. She touched the lives of every Soldier she met and her contribution to the spirit of this generation of Soldiers can not be matched. She lost her battle with cancer on December 24, 2015.
