Victoria Soto gave her life in defending her students on December 14 2012. Hiding her students from sight she lied to a deranged gunman, convincing him the students were elsewhere, before he ended her life. The Medal of Freedom, or equivalent civilian citation is merited by her actions. Victoria Soto died a hero, and is deserving of recognition, in what ever manner the president deems appropriate.
